When someone experiences double vision, it means that their left and right eye are not functioning well as a pair, Thus their brain can't harmonize the two disparate images into one.
As a result, you see two different images. Double-vision.

To deal with double vision, the brain can simply ignore one of the images. While I didn't have double vision, it turns out that my brain suppressed my left visual field, starting from a very young age.

This suppression of my left visual field was probably the catalyst for a very difficult first half of my life in regards to pain.
